This post contains the more viewable images I got from the Red Kite feeding at Gigrin Farm, Rhayader. Even though these are large birds, trying to pick random swoops at high speed is quite a challenge and a lot of the results were either blurs or odd parts of a bird most of which has left the image!
This was one of the first birds to take food.
This is part of the flock.
A second flock shot.
Just imagine being a rabbit and seeing this coming at you.
Note the two crows in the background. Normally the crows come in first and the kites follow when happy that all is safe. On this day - and apparently some other recent days - the crows had changed to come in later. I also saw one Raven, but didn't get an image of it.
One Kite was kind enough to sit and eat.
This next three images are not of a Kite. It is a Common Buzzard that snuck in and sat gorging for some minutes. This distressed the Kites which attempted to drive it off, and on some occasions actually flew into it, with feathers being dislodged.
After things calmed down some of the Kites perched in convenient trees. Possibly bcause their alimentary canals were so full they couldn't take off.
